Are you trying to be too positive?

You have to know that to live your best life, you have to acknowledge everything that causes you pain, everything that triggers you.

Feel your emotions, don't shy away from them.

We are taught to be positive at all costs, to shy away from difficult emotions.

Don't.

They're teaching you something - they are keeping you authentically connected to who you truly are and to the world.

As Susan David says in her Ted Talk here, deny your emotions and they'll only get stronger, just like that chocolate cake you're trying to resist.

She uses examples in her Ted Talk like, "I don't want to try because I don't want to feel disappointed or I just want this feeling to go away.

I understand, she replies, but you have dead people's goals.

Only dead people never experience heartbreak, never get stressed or experience the disappointment that comes with failure."

Here are some thought-provoking quotes from her video, " Courage is not the opposite of fear. Courage is fear walking."

"Discomfort is the price of admission to a meaningful life."

"Emotions are data not directives."

- Susan David

You own your emotions, they don't own you.

Let them be your guide.

Tip:
Try taking a pause and asking yourself what am I feeling and then ask yourself what would love have me do now?

I LOVE YOU
