Boost your Winter Wellness: Solstice tips + Qigong event
2025 has been quite the year. A year of shedding. A year of tremendous change for some and at least some shifts of all kinds for all. The year of the Snake in astrological terms.
As we approach the Winter Solstice on Dec 21st, we will continue to shed. We can resist it, feeling the struggle or we can be with it uncomfortable as it is and let it teach us, let it inform us. I have felt the need to build stronger and better boundaries with those who would exploit them and grow a bigger heart for those who do not. How's it been for you?
Don't wait until the ground is hard in January. Begin now to consider how you'd like 2026 to be for you. Begin to plant those seeds. What do YOU want? As my youngest comes of age and approaches her final school year, I can feel myself reclaiming time for me, booking trips just for me without feeling guilty.
We have spaces remaining for my last event of the year next Saturday (15th November). Do join us. Step 'Into the Quiet' for a Qi-Gong and guided meditation collaboration, weaving in the winter magic whilst allowing ourselves to surrender, relax and receive it. Every season has its highs and lows, its unique offering. Taking a moment to pause and reflect, enabling our bodies to do what they need to do, can make the adjustment a little easier.
The Winter Solstice is another marker on the annual calendar which marks a seasonal shift causing the physical body to let go. In other words, DETOX which can be uncomfortable if you're not prepared for it. It starts around the beginning of December just when folks are getting into party mode and perhaps over-indulging. Beware. If you consistently over-indulge, you may find the time between Xmas and NY is beset with coughs, colds and flu as the body responds to the energies of the solstice and tries to restore balance in readiness for the coldest time of the year.
Be comforted though. At the very least, the Winter Solstice brings with it, the beginning of the light returning..yay!!
Heath tip: Drink lots of warm water throughout the day (not more than 1L in 1hr) to keep up your hydration through the winter. t's really really important with the heating and increased time spent indoors. I suggest using a metal bottle so it stays warm and you can sip it throughout the day. You'll be amazed how easily it slips down and before you know it, you're refilling it and keeping up to the 2L a day for good health.
