Navigating increasing anxiety and the Coronavirus

How are you doing?

With worldwide panic from the coronavirus situation and Guernsey having been hit, it's understandable your anxiety may be a little higher than normal so I want to use this email as an opportunity to explore Anxiety in a little more depth and you'll see as I do,I move into the subject of viral activity which I hope will go some way to support you.

Anxiety has been on the rise for some time anyway, blamed on many different things such as technology and our changing world so add in a major external event and it's understandable people will feel worse.

Anxiety has both emotional and physical aspects.  Today I'm going to focus on the physical but that by no means under-rates the emotional.  If you know me by now, you'll know that emotional wellbeing and a healthy mindset is at the top of my agenda when helping you restore balance and feel happy and motivated once again.

When we look at the hierarchy of the organs ( the body isn't random) in terms of dis-ease manifestation, anxiety indicates imbalance at the deepest (highest) level.  The lowest level is the colon, then liver, lungs and kidneys and finally heart, lungs and mind.  To be specific then anxiety is at mind level.  I'm talking about chronic anxiety here, not the momentary anxiety we have when sitting an exam for eg.

On a physical level fear (anxiety) is registered with dehydration which causes the misplacement of electrolytes inside and outside the cells since they are carried in fluid.

Dehydration creates fear both physically and emotionally because we're nearly 80% fluid and water is needed for every single action in the body.

 
The 4 main electrolytes, sodium, calcium, magnesium and potassium need to be in exactly the right place at the right time for us to be healthy.  And remember, magnesium is nature's natural tranquilliser so it's an important factor in anxiety.  But don't rush out to buy magnesium supplements.

I really encourage you to start with hydration first which means a hydrating diet, a good water intake and avoiding dehydrating foods and drinks.  This is so you can put the 4 electrolytes in the right place.  If you put magnesium supplements into a dehydrated body, you'll just cause stress.  This is why it's so important to seek advice with supplements.

 

Dehydration is a very scary thing for our bodies.  It's the first point at which things start to go amiss. 

 

Left in a dehydrated state long enough ( 2yrs), the liver will try to manage the problem by protectively coating our cells in cholesterol ( keeps the fluid inside the cell otherwise it would shrivel up and die!) 

It's a useful short-term fix but not at all beneficial as a long-term solution 'cos guess what, when the cell/s become coated, nothing gets in or out so the inside of the cell gets pretty gunky.

More specifically, calcium and sodium get stuck inside the cell so with misplaced electrolytes you can get all the unsettling symptoms of chronic anxiety such as palpitations and panic attacks.

Which brings us to the perfect environment for other inflammatory conditions and VIRAL ACTIVITY - a hot topic right now.

So the inside of the cell gets gunky - I know, not a very refined way to talk Science but if you know me, you know I like to convey science simply.  And what happens when the inside of the cell gets gunky is that photon activity drops (light), temperature drops, ph drops ( more acid) and oxygen levels drop.

Uh-oh!  That's a perfect storm for any dormant viruses to wake up and multiply.

So if you're in this state and maybe you are if you don’t drink much water, consume enough hydrating foods ( usually the opposite), are chronically stressed and living in a technologically polluted environment ( can’t do much about that), you may succumb to the common cold or flu or norovirus or herpes simplex ( cold sore) or whatever other virus you've succumbed to in the past at some point or maybe a new viral strain.

And just to add fuel to fire, we're approaching the Spring Equinox which triggers an energetic shift as we move from Winter into Spring.  But if we're carrying a heavy toxic load from stress ( causes physical dehydration raising our toxic load), poor diet, polluted environment ( modern day living), unresolved childhood trauma and burnt out lifestyle ( for eg; lack of work/life balance) then this shift will make known these imbalances more readily and it could be pretty uncomfortable.  

Throw in hormonal change like the menopause and we really are on a rollercoaster!!

When these imbalances are brought to the surface like this, the conditions inside the cell can trigger viral activity as our body desperately tries to slough off this toxic load.  

And in this situation, there maybe a benefit to viral activity.  I mean the common cold or flu not the coronavirus.  Because they trigger our body to go into action - thinning the lymph by raising our temperature ( creating an inhospitable unsustainable environment for the virus), creating more movement and eventually bringing us back to stasis where all is well again.  

Then we feel healthy and our energy levels increase to enjoy Spring and Summer.  Hooray!  We hope.  If we're really out of kilter, we may enter Spring and Summer beset with health issues from poor energy to chronic hay fever.  You have been warned!!

 

Now it's really not necessary to go through all of this hullabaloo by the way.  We can actually prepare our vehicle for the seasonal changeover through healthy diet, self-care etc. so actually you do feel amazing for the Spring and Summer.

So do you see how with external events like the coronavirus or political events or extreme weather etc; these things are out of our control.  All we can do is attend to our vehicle, in other words, take optimum care of ourselves.  Don't get distracted from this.  Take care of you.

 Daily, consistent mindful self-care practices are key

 

Remember viruses whatever they are, are opportunistic.  They require exact conditions to thrive as described above.  They can only survive in a certain vibration.  Raise your vibration through these healthful practices and you will have a far better outcome than simply washing your hands and wearing a face mask.

Everything is energy!

Protect yourself from fear-mongers and those who consider the earth a random experience where you randomly succumb to dis-ease.

Take care of your vibration and insist those around you do the same.

Yes, lots of difficult experiences to navigate on the earth right now.  You can be part of the change to create a better world, the coming together of the collective conscious to support each other or succumb to the fear and separate.  That's a lonely place.  The age of Aquarius invites us to work together and bolster each other up from a place where our own cup is full.

Can you accept the invitation these events offer us, to step up to yourself  - to your wellbeing, to your love for yourself, to your love for humanity viewing these external events as tests?

They are tests to see how grounded, empowered and connected we are to the source within us that feeds us every day with huge love, support and possibility if only we'd get quiet enough to hear it and trust that we can be ok, that we are ok and this time on earth is a powerful opportunity to step into our highest self and become a living, breathing example of love, strength, courage, hope, individuality, community and source of wisdom.
